Foods That Help You Absorb Calcium

Osteoporosis is a disease in which the bones become brittle and are more liable to break. My Grandmother had osteoporosis, so it runs in the family. If you add in the fact that I’m a woman and getting older and have a thin frame, it makes it even more likely that I’ll develop osteoporosis as I age.

I know that one of the ways that I may be able to help prevent osteoporosis it is to take calcium along with a multivitamin that has Vitamin D.

Do I need to take calcium

Everyone knows that you need to take calcium as you get older but did you know that you also need to have Vitamin D? Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium. Vitamin D also helps your kidneys break down and use the calcium that would otherwise be eliminated.

There are many foods that help you absorb calcium, but most people don’t get enough of them through their diet each day. That is why a multivitamin with Vitamin D like Centrum® VitaMints® is so important.  New Centrum® VitaMints® provides adults with essential nutrients you enjoy like a mint.

Foods that are high in Vitamin D

I have been trying to add more of these foods that are high in Vitamin D to my diet along with taking Centrum® VitaMints®:

  • Eggs
  • Butter
  • Fatty Fish
  • Liver
  • Fortified foods like milk, orange juice, cereal

I’m not a big fan of fatty fish, liver or cereal, so I know it’s extra important for me to remember to take my Centrum® VitaMints® every day. Centrum® VitaMints® offers consumers a truly unique, and surprising pleasant-tasting, refreshingly minty multivitamin in Cool Mint flavor, which can be taken with or without food or water, from America’s most-preferred multivitamin brand, Centrum®.

Though eating healthy may be a summertime goal, a recent survey from Prevention and Centrum® finds that, although more than 75 percent of Americans believe it is fairly easy to get recommended daily amounts of vitamins and minerals by eating a healthy, balanced diet, nearly half of those polled are concerned they may not be getting enough of one or more key nutrients.

Centrum® VitaMints® is a complete chewable multivitamin that includes key nutrients—like B Vitamins, and Vitamins C & E— to help fill nutritional gaps and support your energy, immunity and metabolism*. *This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration.
