Chocolate Mocha Protein Shake Recipe

Chocolate Mocha Protein Shake

Mocha is typically a flavor that includes coffee or espresso, milk or cream, and chocolate.  Being slightly addicted to coffee, a mocha is a very occasional treat that I allow myself.

Your traditional mocha latte is not overly healthy. It generally has coffee, cream, and chocolate syrup when you buy it at the coffee shop.

If you get it iced, it ends up being more like a milkshake than any healthy version of coffee and chocolate. Thankfully, this Gold Standard Whey recipe is good for you!

I did some experimenting and have come up with a healthier version of a mocha that I’ve turned into a Chocolate Mocha Protein Shake.

It’s just enough of a splurge to satisfy but it still manages to be healthy. If you’re looking for Gold Standard Whey Recipes, you can use it in almost any protein shake recipe, including this one.

You will want this chocolate whey protein powder here. It’s the base for many of my whey protein powder recipes.

This product presentation was made with AAWP plugin.

Make this chocolate mocha protein shake healthier

Here are a few ways you can make this whey protein powder shake healthier. It’s delicious mixed with cold brew coffee or even iced coffee.

  • Substitute cocoa powder for chocolate syrup. Try to find fair-trade cocoa powder if you can.
  • Instead of using ice cream or ice cubes to thicken your shake, use a frozen banana.
  • I added in a scoop of protein powder. I used Vanilla, but you could use chocolate protein powder if you wanted as well.
  • Use coconut milk or unsweetened almond milk instead of cream or traditional milk.

This is a super-easy way to get protein first thing in the morning when you’re in a hurry. The protein powder will help keep you full and this is a lot healthier than a mocha latte at the coffee shop.

Gold Standard Whey Protein Recipes

So, there are lots of Gold Standard Whey Flavors you can try including mocha cappuccino, strawberry, double rich chocolate, extreme milk chocolate, vanilla, French vanilla, and more. You can check out all of the flavors here. The coffee protein powder is my favorite.

You could easily use the vanilla, French vanilla, any of the chocolates, or the mocha cappuccino in this Chocolate mocha protein shake.

Or, you can mix it up according to the directions on the container and enjoy it as is in a glass. Make sure that you drink it cold. You will love this chocolate protein shake!

What are the benefits of whey protein?

Whey protein is a high-quality source of protein. It promotes muscle growth. And it may help to reduce inflammation and lower blood pressure.

Whey protein also helps you stay full, discouraging you from snacking on things you shouldn’t be doing. So, it’s much better to have this chocolate mocha protein shake for breakfast than to stop at the drive-through for a donut and a latte.

Other Gold Standard Whey recipes

So, you can substitute Gold Standard Whey for just about any protein powder. You will want to be sure that you match the flavors to the type of protein powder you have. You can even add Gold Standard protein powder to a standard smoothie recipe to give it a boost.

It shouldn’t have much of a taste difference. That’s why I use it in this chocolate mocha protein shake.

But, you can choose the vanilla flavor if you’re concerned about what it will taste like. Vanilla goes with just about everything.

Or, you may want to try a scoop in this healthy breakfast. High protein breakfasts are a great way to keep you full longer and discourage snacking. That’s one of the reasons I love this chocolate coffee protein shake.

  2. I used to drink more protein shakes when the cost of the protein powder was not as expensive as it is now. It's surprising the chocolate flavor some good cocoa powder can add to a drink. You can make your own without all that sugar and fat. My fave is from Trader Joes's.

  3. This looks yummy, and a great way to get my protein! I know I need more, my diet is horrible these days. I'm not a big breakfast eater, so I rely on shakes to get me through the morning.
