Finding educational apps for kids that are also fun can be a challenge. Learning through play is one of the best ways for children to gain new skills. There needs to be a balance between fun and learning to keep the child engaged and interested. Finding educational apps for kids with this balance isn’t always easy.
Educational Apps for Kids
Laura’s Journey to the Stars is an interactive storybook app that will keep your child engaged and learning. Laura and her brother are looking at the stars one evening while getting ready for bed and wonder where the dog stars are. They decide to build a rocket ship and travel to outer space to find them. Laura’s Journey to the Stars by Klaus Baumgart reads the story aloud to your child and lets them to engage with each page.
On each page of the app, there are glowing or moving objects. As you touch the various objects on the page, they make noises, move and otherwise get your child’s attention. As your child engages with the app, the scene in front of them changes. On several of the app’s pages, there are interactive mini games. A few examples are tapping all of the aliens as they appear, playing music on the dog stars and matching lost socks.
The details in this interactive storybook app are just unbelievable. There are so many fun things to find on each page that even the second time I listened to it, I found new things. I love watching the toothpaste foam on the toothbrush and the compass in the app really works! The sounds are very realistic and include fun things like a cat meowing and a teddy bear having a snack. Just a few of the features in Laura’s Journey to the stars are:
- Beautifully drawn illustrations by the popular children’s book illustrator Klaus Baumgart
- More than 80 animated scenes, clever sound effects, and engaging mini games
- Captivating narration by native speakers in three languages: English, German, and Mandarin Chinese
- Intuitive, child-friendly controls
- Social media sharing, volume and language controls, and library panel accessible via the title page’s teddy bear
- No in-app purchases
Laura’s Journey to the Stars is the first of its series of interactive storybooks that will be releasing over the summer. Laura’s Journey is currently available for $2.99.
