Do you take a natural probiotic? Winters in Vermont are long and cold. We spend less time outside and more time inside and that means we pass germs back and forth a lot quicker. I have been exploring different doctor recommended ways to stay healthy during the winter. We often see our first snow in October and the last snow generally melts away in late April or early May. Why to Take a Natural Probiotic
I’m very much an outdoor type person in the nice weather but I am not someone who enjoys playing in the snow. I have asthma and cold weather or the slightest cold or flu symptom can bring on an asthma attack. Because my immune system is less than perfect, I need to make sure I make healthy decisions.
I’ve been working on revamping our eating habits for about six months now. I am slowly eliminating the unhealthy, overly processed foods and replacing them with healthy, organic and homemade alternatives. I’ve stopped shopping at our traditional grocery store for the most part and instead shop at our local organic food coop. I’m learning to be sneaky creative when I cook since my husband and teens aren’t always open to new foods. I’ve even taken to hiding spinach in beef stew and beets in smoothies to get a few more healthy foods into their diet.
I’ve even started buying raw milk from a local organic dairy because it is healthier than other alternatives. Check out the calf I got to visit when I picked up our raw milk yesterday.
I drink plenty of water and encourage the kids to do the same. I watch my weight and try to exercise regularly. In the summer, exercising is easy because it’s usually gorgeous outside. In the winter, I ride my stationary bike or I get my exercise by shoveling snow. Trust me, shoveling out the duck and chicken coop is great exercise!

I am also making sure that everyone takes a vitamin and a natural probiotic like Insync Probiotic each day. Probiotic bacteria (good bacteria like B.Infantis) help with digestion and help keep your immune system healthy. Some people think that all bacteria are unhealthy but they really aren’t. It intrigued me because it is a gradual release probiotic and that helps protect the probiotics from stomach acids. We just take one each morning with our vitamins and a big glass of water.
