This is the time of year when my thoughts turn to Christmas project ideas. Decoupage is the art of decorating surfaces with cut or torn pieces of paper. This is a great way to upcycle things you have around the house and turn them into beautiful gifts.
Ideas for Decoupage Glass Candle Holders
Glass candle holders can be decoupaged with a variety of different colors and patterns. This easy decoupage idea is a wonderful way to use up leftover tissue paper.
The surface you decorate can be made of metal, wood, glass, or any other number of surfaces. The paper used while decorating can be cut-outs from old greeting cards, newspaper clippings, or artwork, or you can use torn pieces of tissue paper like I’m using below. Decoupage is a great way to recycle paper and to upcycle the item that you’re decoupaging onto.

How to Decoupage Glass Candle Holder
Cover the face of the clear glass votive candle holder with a thin coat of Modge Podge Gloss. Hold the votive candle holder by cradling your fingers inside it so you don’t get your fingers in the Modge Podge Gloss.
Carefully apply each torn piece of tissue paper in a random pattern, covering each piece with another layer of Modge Podge Gloss. Make sure you overlap slightly to create a stained glass look.
Once the entire glass votive holder is covered with paper and a layer of Modge Podge Gloss or Matte, allow it to dry completely.
More ideas for decoupage you can try
You can vary the color of the tissue paper depending on the season or the holiday. You can decoupage on olive oil bottles, wooden boxes, glass jars, trays, or a variety of other surfaces. This is a very easy project to do that will not take up a lot of time or craft supplies. Here are a few more tips for how to decoupage on glass.
