Italian Pork Chop Recipe

Summer is a hectic time for most people. The weather is nicer so families want to be outside enjoying the warmer temperatures while they can.

This may mean grilling in your backyard. Or, it may mean heading out to a campground for a long weekend. Either way, this Italian pork chop recipe is the answer to “What should I have for dinner?”

What side-dishes go with this?

It’s summer, so let’s keep this as easy as possible. You can make a fresh garden salad to go along with this Italian pork chop recipe.

And, you can serve the Italian pork chops with pasta. If you’re short on time, make a pasta salad the night before so it’s ready for dinner.

Or, if you prefer, you can serve these pork chops on top of a bed of linguine.

Finally, this Italian rosemary bread is another great addition.

What type of pork chops should I grill?

Honestly, we usually just pick the least expensive bulk package of pork chops. You can make these easy Italian pork chops with your favorite cut of bone-in pork chops.

Just keep in mind that thicker chops will need to cook longer than a thinner cut. The bone really does give the recipe more flavor.

Baked pork chops

We love baked pork chops, and I make them regularly in the cooler months. But, in the summer when the house gets hot, the last thing I want to do is to eat up the house by turning the oven on.

If you do want to make baked pork chops, you can follow this recipe and bake them in a 350F oven for about 30 minutes. Check for doneness.

It will vary based on the thickness of your pork chop.

parmesan breaded pork chops

My Mom’s baked breaded pork chops are one of my favorite memories from my childhood. She just dipped them in egg, rolled them in Italian breadcrumbs, and baked them at 350F for 30 minutes.

I love the taste of breaded thin pork chops!

Sometimes, she even made parmesan breaded pork chops by adding a 1/4 cup of grated parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs.

My Mom always served them with mashed potatoes with butter and green beans. I’m definitely making myself hungry right now!

This recipe really couldn’t get easier. What you’re going to do is drizzle the pork chops with olive oil on both sides. Then, pat with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper on both sides of the pork chops.

Refrigerate for up to two hours and then grill. It couldn’t be easier. You’ll want to refrigerate these pork chops in a gallon-size resealable plastic bag.

If you prefer, you can store them in a glass container with a tight-fitting lid. We try to reduce our plastic use as much as possible.

So, what will you need to make this easy Italian pork chop recipe? Well, you’ll need the pork chops, olive oil, and seasoning. But, besides that, you will need a grill if you plan on making it outside.

We have a charcoal grill. But, my parents always make theirs on a gas grill. So, either one will work fine.

You will need to oil the grates if you plan on grilling outside. So, I find this is easiest with a silicone basting brush.

I love that there are just a few simple ingredients needed for this recipe. Finally, you can have it on the table in less than an hour which for a busy summer day is just perfect.

Remember, you can make the side dishes ahead of time because that saves a few more minutes in the kitchen. So, that means you’ll have more time for visiting with friends or playing with the kids in the backyard.
