When I was little, one of the things I remember my Mom making for me all the time were poached eggs. Whenever I wasn’t feeling well, I got poached eggs. I have no idea why but poached eggs are one of those things that will forever remind me of my childhood. Of course, I never watched my Mom make poached eggs. It was just this mysterious mom knowledge she possessed along with making skinned knees better with a hug. While I’ve mastered fixing skinned knees with a hug, making the perfect poached egg still eludes me. I’ve tried twice and both times have been rather dismal failures.
poachpods by Fusion Brands are a unique new poached egg tool that has solved my poached egg issues. poachpods are a modern silicone egg cooking tool. Each flexible silicone mold will hold one egg. You simply oil the poachpod and crack an egg into it. Float the poachpod in boiling water, cover the pan with a lid and cook for four to six minutes depending on how firm you like your poached egg. Then just lift the silicone poachpod from the boiling water using a slotted spoon and gently push the egg out. That’s all there is to it!
poachpods have other uses besides poached eggs. They can be used to bake flan, frittatas, cakes or other baked goods as well. You simply fill the oiled pods with batter, place them on a pan for support and cook the recipe as directed. I have an awful time getting flan out of custard cups and this will make it so much easier. poachpods are heat-resistant to 675°F / 357°C. They are made of FDA food-safe silicone and are microwave and top rack dishwasher safe. They come in a set of two and are 3″ diameter x 1.5″ depth. poachpods definitely make it very easy to make poached eggs! I used them to make Eggs Benedict for lunch!
