Learning apps for kids: ABC’s with Bingzy Bee: Phonics

Preparing children to start kindergarten was very important to me when my kids were little.  I wanted to make sure that they had a good start on the basics of education when they started. I didn’t want to push learning on them. I wanted them to see that learning was something fun to do.  One of the ways I helped prepare them for school was by working with them on their ABC’s and phonics. When my kids were little, there were no learning apps for kids so I used flash cards and colorful pictures.

Learning apps for kids

In today’s age of technology, there are learning apps for kids you can use to introduce your child to phonics and their ABC’s.  ABC’s with Bingzy Bee: Phonics is a phonics learning app that teaches the letters of the alphabet along with their sounds, all in an original song. This learning app was developed by a group of teachers and has been used in the classroom with pre-k and kindergarten children for years.

The ABC song is taught in four separate parts.  After each part of the song, there is a cute game your child can play that will help reinforce what they have just learned.  You can do each section separately or you can play the entire song all at one time.  The song is really cute and the app is fun and colorful. Both will ensure they keep your child’s attention and get them into learning their phonics. Great way to keep the learning alive during the summer or prepare your child for school next year.

This is definitely one of the cuter learning apps for kids that I’ve seen.  It is available from the app store for only .99c and works with both iPhone and iPad.

  1. Hm, I wonder if this would help my daughter?  She has a learning disability and struggles with phonics.  Memorization of sight words she can do, but “sounding out” is just too hard. Thanks for sharing, bookmarked!

  2. I always like learning about new apps for kids that are educational.

  3. I’ll have to check those out for my son. Thanks for the great information!

  4. Hi All! My name is Lisa Love and my mom and I are the developers of the app. I saw your comments and I wanted to comment myself. Just so you know, my mom taught the primary grades for 40+ years in LA, and used this method of teaching phonics to her students with various backgrounds and learning abilities. Kids love the song and catch on extremely fast. Before you know it, they’re singing the letters and sounds of the alphabet in no time. Think of this app as a modern day version of Schoolhouse Rock. It’s the 1st animated app that teaches the letters along with their sounds, all in an original song. And…the sounds are pronounced by a professionally trained teacher, because it’s extremely important for young children to hear the correct pronunciation so they can easily transition to reading.
